2025 Chevy Silverado EV RST Introduces Sidewinder Mode for Diagonal Movement
- The 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV RST now features a unique “Sidewinder” mode for diagonal driving.
- This mode enables all four wheels to rotate in the same direction, allowing the truck to move sideways.
- Standard on the top RST trim, Sidewinder mode operates with a speed limit of 20 mph.
The Chevy Silverado EV and the GMC Hummer EV have more in common than ever. Both share a battery pack, but the Silverado EV has now adopted a feature that allows for diagonal driving—aptly named Sidewinder—standard on the RST trim. This feature, which has been available on the Hummer EV since its 2022 debut, is designed to enhance maneuverability.

Sidewinder mode allows the truck to turn all four wheels in unison, enabling it to travel at an angle up to 20 mph. While it may seem like an amusing gimmick, the purpose of this feature is practical. It helps drivers navigate narrow trails or park in tight spaces with ease.
Rest assured, drivers won’t engage Sidewinder by accident, as it can only be activated through the truck’s infotainment system. Recently, a video showcasing the mode in action was shared by Chevy on Instagram.
The Silverado EV starts at $57,095 in its base configuration, with 510 horsepower and an estimated driving range of up to 492 miles when equipped with the Max Range pack.
The RST trim, offering 754 horsepower, can be equipped with either the Extended Range or the 205.0-kWh Max pack. In testing, the RST model impressed, achieving the second-best range and ranking second among the fastest-charging electric vehicles.
